Taiwan Vasectomy Reversal
Types of Vasectomy Reversal Procedures
Males who have undergone a vasectomy may at some point decide they would like to restore the ability to conceive children. Though vasectomy is often considered an irreversible process, there is a relatively new surgical procedure called a vasectomy reversal which can restore male fertility in Taiwan. Vasectomy reversal is practiced by a small number of male fertility doctors and micro-surgeons around the world.
What Vasectomy Reversal Does
During a vasectomy, the tube that carries sperm to the seminal stream, called the vas deferens, is cut and sealed off to prevent unwanted conception. A vasectomy reversal doctor will locate and remove the original vasectomy scar, and then reconnect the vas deferens in order to restore the sperm supply to the ejaculate.
In some cases, a blockage may have formed following the vasectomy at the delicate epididymus, located near the top of the vas deferens. It is necessary to reconnect the vas deferens at the epididymus in these cases in order to restore fertility, which is not a common procedure because of the degree of difficulty involved.
Types of Vasectomy Reversal Surgery
There are two different types of vasectomy reversal surgery.
The most common type is called vasovasotomy. In this procedure, only the ends of the vas deferens tube are rejoined at the point where the blockage from the vasectomy is cut away. This allows sperm to flow into the urethra and rejoin the seminal stream. Vasovasotomy is not always successful.
The second type of vasectomy reversal is called endidymovasotomy, where a blockage of the epididymus is discovered and the vas deferens is rejoined at that point. Endidymovasotomy requires a high skill level and specialized equipment, such as a high-powered microscope.
